Common questions
How common is colour blindness?
Around 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women. Deuteranopia and protanopia — both red-green types — account for the large majority.
How do I design for colour blindness?
Never rely on colour alone to carry meaning. Pair it with text, icons, patterns or position. A red/green status indicator is unreadable to a significant slice of your audience; adding a tick and a cross fixes it entirely.
Is this simulation clinically accurate?
No — it uses standard matrix approximations, which are good enough to catch problem pairings but not a substitute for testing with actual users.
