Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and analysed entirely in your browser using a canvas. Nothing is transmitted, stored or logged.
How does colour extraction work?
The image is scaled down, its pixels are grouped into buckets of similar colour, and the most frequent buckets are picked — skipping any too close to one already chosen, so you get a varied palette rather than six near-identical blues.
Why are the extracted colours duller than the photo?
Each swatch is the average of a group of similar pixels, and averaging pulls toward the middle. A photo’s most striking colour is often a small bright highlight that never dominates a bucket.
